Chorale
Holiday Encore Performance
Friday,
December 4, 7:30 PM
Immanuel
Hall,
302 S.
Grant Street, Hinsdale, Illinois
For those who were unable to attend
the Hinsdale Chorale' s November 29 regular Holiday concert, the group will present a shortened
encore performance Friday, December 4th at 7:30 PM in Immanuel
Hall at 302 S. Grant Street. “We
want to help get the Hinsdale community into the Holiday
spirit,” explained Gordon Krauspe, the group’s Director.
“Our performance is early in the season, so we think we can
help our audience 'tune up' for the sing-along season."
The group will perform a
selection of choral music for the audience, and this year will
be showcasing Robert Shaw-Alice Parker carols. Shaw
worked with Alice Parker in the 1950's to arrange many
well-known - and less familiar - Holiday selections that
have become loved classics. The group will perform "God
Rest You Merry, Gentlemen", "Angels We Have Heard on
High", and "O Magnum Mysterium" and other
compositions a capella for the audience. The shortened
performance will also include selected Messiah pieces.
The newly renovated Immanuel Hall is a registered historic building
and has become the rehearsal venue for the group. For
the patron of Friday's performance, it presents an opportunity for a more intimate presentation
of the Shaw carols and other selections. "This building has wonderful sound characteristics for
choral music and lets us present a different experience for
audience members," explained Krauspe. Immanuel Hall
is owned and managed by the Hinsdale Historical
Society, and members
will be on hand for a free wine reception following the Friday
night performance.
The concert is free to
the public, but donations are accepted to support the group's
costs.
